  1. That's good background, thanks for summarizing. Moral of the story, he clearly had the mental illness called the god-delusion. Let's hope his delusion was from his own idiocy...and not through brainwashing by his parents and/or the Christian cult. If so, they're complicit in his death.

  2. More proof the god-delusion is a mental illness that forces some people to do very stupid things. The Christian cult is notorious for brainwashing their members about 'saving' others. And this incident would be less surprising if we learned Chau was a member of the Mormon cult. Their "missionary" recruiting trips are still happening.

  3. @Milkyway2099 Foolish is a polite understatement. Members of the Christian cult fit into two primary categories. I'm curious which category he was in: 1. Brainwashed as a child by his parents, religious education system and local cult leaders (Church employees, Priests, etc) 2. A very weak-minded adult, susceptible to indoctrination, who later in life decided to pick a God-delusion/cult and their fictional "holy" book. (choices in this category are many, including the Muslim, Mormon, and Scientology cults) His level of idiocy and determination suggests he was in the first category.

  4.  @lilsomething8905  While atheism and anti-theism are appropriate terms, I think a person who doesn't believe in fictional stories and/or the various 'god' stories are better described as being rational. For example, you'd likely describe an adult who doesn't believe in unicorns and mermaids as being rational. Conversely, you'd likely describe an adult who believes unicorns and mermaids are real as being irrational.

  6.  @cosmosindia  While I agree with your view of the Christian and Muslim cults, I disagree with any suggestion there's any good in religions/god-delusions. It poisons the world and is the cause of massive crimes against humanity. That's a whole separate discussion. ALL religions try to expand their cult. For example, the Scientology and Mormon cults also try hard to spread their delusions to others. It doesn't help that we give all religions/cults massive tax breaks. Also a whole separate discussion. I was actually surprised the guy killed by the tribe wasn't a Mormon. Bottom line, we agree that religion is a virus.

  9.  @cosmosindia  We agree 100% organized religion is a virus on the world. And you make a good point that it should be scientific and evolve. The unfortunate thing for humanity is organized religion has figured this out. Particularly the Christian cult. For example, there's actually a "Vatican Astronomer" (google Bill Maher's interview with him in his movie "Religulous") The key job of the Vatican Astronomer is to reconcile ancient stories and incorporate new knowledge/scientific references into their cult's teachings. They know children in their cult (and their parents) have access to all the facts regarding the universe. And they know the bible and other ancient stories have been proven to be fictional. So they try to leverage tiny gaps in human knowledge. Whenever they find a gap in our knowledge, they simply say their God must be responsible. Or, they simply attribute everything to "Intelligent Design". The best example is the ridiculous claim a God was responsible for the Big Bang. Their ultimate goal is to maintain the brainwashing of the cult as best they can and sustain their multi-$billion business/scam. One irony in organized religion is Scientology's stories are actually more plausible than the older cults. They were developed with a lot of scientific knowledge. They're ridiculous and nonsensical stories... but not to the level of Noah's Ark, Jesus, Mohammad, Adam and Eve, Heaven/Hell, ....etc, etc etc. (And don't get me started on some of the Mormon cult's beliefs). There are many people like you who believe in a God but dislike organized religion. There's also many Agnostics. As a non-believer and anti-theist, I can appreciate both groups. While I'll always disagree with any God story, I respect a person's right to believe whatever they want. There's also people who believe Bigfoot, Ghosts and Horoscopes are real so it would be illogical for me to entirely dismiss the concept of superstition. Thank you for the great points. Bottom line, we certainly agree organized religion is a scourge on the world. All the best.

  10.  @Catbythesea  We agree on the Muslim delusion of their prophet (and everything else about their cult). However we disagree on the Christian cult's 'Jesus' story. Speaking of lies, ...it's important for you to realize the Jesus story was copied from previous myths. Although he was a real man (a Jew living in the Middle East), the Christian cult stole elements of previous Egyptian, Roman, Greek and Persian myths for a fictional backstory. Including the virgin birth, son of god and resurrection lies. All were details in many previous God/Prophet myths among our species. Because the man known as Jesus was a Jew, I assume you celebrate Hanukkah as well as Christmas every year? And I also assume you're aware the Christian cult changed Jesus' birthday to Dec. 25 to align with (and compete with) "pagan" traditions and many of the those aforementioned myths? (see link below for neutral, factual and irrefutable proof the Jesus story is a scam copied from previous myths) I have great sympathy for any member of a religious cult. They've usually been irreversibly brainwashed as children. Or they're very weak-minded adults who are afflicted with a God delusion (pick one). Or they're simply a person very susceptible to brainwashing. We're not yet sure which category the guy killed by the remote tribe was in. I'm betting he was brainwashed a child.
