Good reference to the collective rights concept. There's many who discuss gun regulations without regard to Supreme Court interpretations of the 2nd. For example, we went about 70 years under a 'collective rights' precedent that considered the "well regulated" part of the 2nd....the 1939 sawed-off shotgun ban. But in 2008 the SC went the opposite direction to more of an 'individual rights' precedent with District of Columbia vs Heller on a handgun ban in Washington DC. I think we're due for another Supreme Court decision that weighs the two concepts. https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/second_amendment

There's already many regulations for bearing arms. Do you disagree with background checks?

Jacob w ..I’m curious how you think this is a violation of the 4th? The Supreme Court has repeatedly upheld the governments right to conduct “reasonable search and seizure”. The reason they’ve given is that “the rights of the many outweigh the rights of the individual”. They’ve stated this in multiple decisions. The public’s right to be safe in society takes precedent over many individual rights given in the Constitution. Examples include the governments ability to search without warrants where risks to domestic security exist. And an individuals “freedom to travel” right has been superseded by numerous laws, regulations and searches for roads and airplanes. The examples are endless. So again...background checks and other regulations on gun ownership don’t violate the 4th. The principle the “rights of the many outweigh the rights of the individual” is very important for a safe society.
