  1. Everest is a cliche. Not worth dying for. It's not even the highest mountain in relation to the center of the earth. That distinction goes to Mt. Chimborazo in Ecuador due to the equatorial bulge.

You make a good point on people without enough experience climbing it for fame, social media crap, etc. I recall a young lady a few years ago with little to no experience climbing strictly for social media fame. She was using tank after tank of oxygen, even at lower altitudes. Sherpas had to carry her at some points. I believe her body is still up there.
