Just like we should've banned travel from Europe much quicker. And just like we should never have put Covid-positive seniors back into nursing homes, visited China towns to score political points (Pelosi and AOC), and told people to "act normal, ride the subways, go to school" (de Blasio in early March).   38. Missing from this story is the NOAA is only using data back to 1966 to determine what's "normal". Hurricanes, cyclones and tornadoes have been occurring for billions of years. It's illogical to attribute reasons (i.e climate change) for the number of hurricanes (or their strength), using data that only goes back 50 years on a 4.5 billion year-old planet.

  39. The 14th Amendment speaks to citizenship. A citizen is defined as a "legally recognized subject or national of a state or commonwealth, either native or naturalized". Seems clear to me. I know the SCOTUS is simply asking the lower courts to do a better job for procedural reasons. That said, I'd love to see the rationale given by the 4 judges who approved the census question.

  43. The people who think the sky is falling need to do 2 minutes of research on the history of climate changes on our 4.5 billion year old planet. Start by looking at the temperature changes during the Medieval Warming period from the years 900 to 1200 when global temperatures increased significantly due to increased solar activity, decreased volcanic activity and changes to ocean currents. We weren’t burning a lot of fossil fuels back then. The Medieval Warming Period was followed by the Little Ice Age. Do we need to be more responsible with pollution? Yes. But there will be always significant climate changes regardless of what we do. There’s too many major factors completely beyond our control.
