  1. One small thing people can do is be very diligent reporting suspicious activity. Even if it's a family member. There's been mass shootings prevented by such diligence. Here's things to look out for: 1. Hate-filled social media posts. 2. Indications of radicalization to hate-filled groups...both religious and race-related. 3. Overt signs of mental illness combined with ownership of guns (particularly semi-auto assault rifles), tactical gear, lots of ammo, etc. There's other warning signs on this list, but this a good start for things to look out for...and report.
