  1. Media continues to deliberately mislead with regards to weather events. For example, they're calling this the "Worst hurricane to EVER hit the Florida panhandle"!? This is a massive lie-by-omission. We only have accurate data on hurricanes for less less than 150 years. And we've only been using satellites and the hurricane-strength model for less than 50 years. On a 4+ billion year-old planet. And while calling a hurricane a "record" is partly correct, media should always qualify the time period being measured. They're usually looking at data for less than 50 years. On a 4+ billion year-old planet.

  2. 1. The quote "worst hurricane ever" is right at the start. If they corrected it later and added the "50 year" qualifier, I'm glad. I stopped watching. Thanks for the clarity. 2. The evidence for the age of the earth is irrefutable. The evidence is from multiple fields of science. I encourage you to do some simple research. If you find a particular fact you'd like to discuss, let me know. 3. I'm curious how old do you think the earth is?

  3. Bobby Carbon...The fact you're uncomfortable with how your religion is trying to control your thoughts or actions should tell you everything you need to know. But don't just take my advice. I'm an anti-theist. I'm strongly opposed to all religions and god-stories. I encourage you to talk to your friends and family about your concerns. I wish you all the best.

Which particular god-story are you referring to? Please be specific. 2. Once you've cited the god-story you believe, please explain why you don't believe any of the other god stories? 3. Related to #2, please explain why you don't believe Xenu, Dictator of the Galaxies, created the earth and universe 75 million years ago?

  7. Harsh Haze...Your point on hurricane strength is why I mentioned the historical data. The Global Fluid Dynamics Laboratory only has good data on hurricanes and cyclones from 1878 onward. A weather event with less than 150 years of comparative data isn't a "record" in my opinion. Particularly when you consider the earth is over billion years old. By the way, there's some interesting data on hurricanes farther back than 1878. Scientists test layers of sediment to model the strength of hurricanes for thousands of years. If you're curious, just google "historical evidence of hurricanes".

  8. Bobby Carbon...Trump is just one in a long list of people who've spoken out on mainstream media's lies-by-omission, propaganda and/or misleading information. The issue has been around for thousands of years. (check out the Wikipedia page for 'fake news') And the advent of social media has made the fake news problem far worse. As well, we now have what's called "Fake Comedy". This is biased comedians lying by omission and spreading political propaganda. Cleverly disguised as "satire" of course. As long as people stay informed, question everything they're told, and understand the ulterior motives behind the information source....they'll be fine.

But the good news is since you're a mono-theist (one god) believer, we differ in our beliefs by only one god-story! I also think Xenu is a fake god. I've simply added your god to the long, long list of gods I don't believe in. You're 99.9% atheist. I'm 100% atheist. That's common ground...;) I encourage you to seek facts and knowledge on the age of the earth. While doing so, you should probably seek knowledge on the evolution of species. If you believe a fictional character created the earth and universe, you probably believe he also created life. While you research evolution, please ask yourself why you have (or had) wisdom teeth. And hair follicles everywhere. And a coccyx (tailbone). And muscles to move your ears. And a body made up of trillions of non-human cells. And a DNA make-up that's amazingly similar to our mammalian cousins, such as chimps, apes, gibbons, pigs, whales, dogs, etc etc. And if you truly believe the "Adam and Eve" story ask yourself how Eve shaved her legs and armpits in the garden of eden...;)

  10. Bobby Carbon... If you're able to make comments on Youtube....you're able to google search "The age of the earth". You'll see the evidence of a 4+ billion year-old earth is irrefutable. After you've educated yourself, you should probably ask your Pastor a few questions.

  11. Kevin Lu WX...Fair point. But I think many people hear the term "worst ever" and assume it's for all time. It's mind boggling how often you hear it. Or the phrase "all time" with respect to temperatures, rainfall, storm strength, etc. Such descriptions aren't only misleading but blatant lies-by-omission that feed ignorance and unreasonable fear. I was corrected above by 'The Spartan' that ABC later qualified their opening statement by mentioning the 50 year time period. That's very rare. If you watch many news shows, or even weather channels, they rarely qualify the time period for "records". Many people aren't aware we've only been accurately measuring weather and climate for a tiny percentage of our existence as a species (less than 1% in fact). I also send communications to TV stations, weather networks and websites to tell them to add proper qualifiers to all "historical" data and anytime they throw around the word "record". To very limited success. Media likes to keep people uninformed. Unreasonable fear is big business.
