Comments by "Hugh Jorgan" (@HughJorgan1) on "Deadly flooding in the Midwest" video.
Referring to fictional characters and a ridiculous fictional book for natural events is illogical. You might as well ask the Tooth Fairy for money or quote your daily horoscope. The Jesus delusion is the source of ignorance and unreasonable fear. You have my sympathies.

@JP-sm4cs ..We don't need a fictional book to tell us we need to be responsible. Flooding is a natural event that's been occurring for billions of years. Weather events and the four seasons (Northern Hemisphere) are a result of natural changes in the earth's axis. And remember, there's been countless global warming and cooling trends in the earth's 4.5 billion year history. For example as recently as only 500 to 1000 years ago there was a significant warming period followed by the "Mini Ice Age" in the 1600s. There's many factors to climate change that are completely beyond our control.

@michaelh.8280 ..The burden of proof for a claim is on those making it. People don't have to disprove claims made without valid evidence. Moreover, it's hypocritical for bible-believers to ask for scientific proof while making claims that lack the same rigorous standard. To explain the burden of proof principle using an analogy, I could claim the Lord of the Rings books are historical fact... and therefore a work of non-fiction. You'd (hopefully) say such a claim is silly and unsupportable. I'd then say prove my claim is wrong!! I hope this explains why it's entirely logical to call the bible a fictional book.

Yolanda Duval ..I appreciate the kind thoughts and all the very best to you as well. But we'll need to disagree that reading fictional stories or 'praying' accomplishes anything. Religion and the belief in a God (pick one) are based on superstitious nonsense. And remember, the Christian God/Jesus story is highly unoriginal. It was preceded by hundreds of similar stories in human history. I encourage you to do some research on similar God myths among ancient Sumerians, Eqyptians, Persians, Romans, Greeks, Chinese, Indians, etc. You have my sincere sympathies if you think there's anything remotely original in the stories you follow. The Christian God is as real as the Scientology God. Disagree? Prove the Scientology God story is fake.

@JP-sm4cs ..What part of my comment wasn't accurate scientific fact? I encourage you to read it again. There's no doubt we're likely influencing climate and weather patterns. I'm simply pointing out that climate change and warming/cooling periods are natural events an have been occurring for billions of years. There's many factors completely beyond our control.

@JP-sm4cs ..I'll continue the chat one more comment in the hope John Ortiz and a couple others in the section are still reading... and learning about science. It appears you're not reading my comments thoroughly. We agree that human activity is likely a factor in climate change and we need to be responsible. We agree the earth has gone through many periods of warming and cooling in its 4.5 billion year history. We agree there's many factors to climate change completely beyond our control. And most importantly, we definitely agree a ridiculous fictional book such as the bible shouldn't be used in discussions on natural weather events!

No One ..In ancient Mesopotamia 5,000 years before the Jesus myth, early human civilizations worshipped multiple Gods (polytheism). Including Enlil, the God of wind and storm. Do you believe Enlil is responsible for the Nebraska floods? If no, why not?

Yolanda Duval ..Again, I see prayer as a massive waste of time. It's a ridiculous superstition based on the delusional belief a fictional character is listening. Rather than the ridiculous words you provide, I'd get as much benefit from asking the great Invisible Pink Unicorn in the sky for guidance. Other appropriate analogies for believing prayer is remotely useful are believing your daily Horoscope is real or that Psychics are accurate in their predictions. On that note..I have a respectful question for you: Do you believe Astrological and Psychic predictions are based in fact? If no, why not?
