  1. I believe you're referring to Spock's use of the phrase: "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few". From a Constitutional perspective, the principle can be rephrased as: "The rights of the many outweigh the rights of the individual". The SCOTUS has used this principle in decisions, particularly on interpretations of the 4th Amendment. And it's an apt reference for a pandemic.
