  1. The 'mortality rate" math is flawed. For example, it's estimated there's been hundreds of thousands who've had the virus, recovered, and never were counted as a case. We really need to get away from presuming the true mortality rate.

  4.  @chorleycc ..The point of my question is to look at the past. Fortunately, you're doing that..as shown by your knowledge of Swine Flu (my mistake calling it the Spanish Flu). It's illogical to worry about the number of respirators when thus far this virus isn't tracking on an emergency trajectory (particularly in terms of hospitalizations). Moreover, the mortality-rate data will surely change. For example, it's estimated hundreds of thousands have had the virus and recovered..without ever registering as a case. Lastly, the danger is citing statistics is confirmation bias. For example, Germany's mortality rate a few days ago was less than 1%. I rarely see that mentioned. I'm giving you a thumbs up for both your comments because you're clearly a smart person. Thanks for the chat.
