  1.  @tnbrfller  That’s what the electoral college accomplishes. Every vote matters. As I said, without it you take away the voice and the votes of people in smaller states. For example, people in say, Alaska, wouldn’t even bother to vote because it wouldn’t change anything in the big picture. The 25 least populous states, like Alaska, have only ONE SIXTH of our population. Meanwhile our 10 most populated states have over HALF the total population! California, Florida, New York, Texas, PA, Illinois and a few other states would decide every election if we had strictly a popular-vote system.

  2.  @loxodoncyclotis1823  As I said, if we had a popular vote system the smaller states would have essentially zero influence of the outcome. Again, the 25 smaller states have only one sixth the population. Their votes wouldn't matter. In the current system those 3 electoral votes for Alaska are important. Anytime a Democrat leader talks about eliminating the electoral college they're really saying they don't care about the smaller states. It's not a good look for them.
