It's interesting to note that Biden's win of the popular vote by 7,060,140 votes was close to the amount he won CA and NY (combined): 7,097,579. In other words, Trump won the popular vote over the other 48 states by about 40,000 votes. This is similar to 2016, where Hillary won the overall popular vote by 3 million after winning CA and NY by 5 million (Trump won the other 48 states by 2 million). These results explain why most of the country is divisive on the election results.
