  1. I'm very pessimistic about Youtube comment sections EVER getting better. The reasons are many but here's my Top 3: 1. We have an entire generation who think "likes" are a meaningful form of recognition. They're so addicted to "likes", they post garbage comments....over and over...and over. It's a mental illness. 2. Related to # 1, a HUGE part of the problem with comment sections is Youtube doesn't allow the thumbs down (dislike) icon to register, which forces people to leave a comment when they disagree. This often doesn't end well...because 3. FAR too many people don't know how to effectively disagree or debate. For example, they use nothing but insults or ad-hominem attacks. If one looks up the "7 Levels of Disagreement", they'll see that Insults and ad-hominem are the two WORST ways to try make a point. We need more adult discussions that focus on effective counter-arguments and refutation.
