  1. # 5 was a zipper merge scenario. I see once again in comments a lot of people who 1. Don’t know what a zipper merge scenario is or 2. Think it’s ok to block people whose lane is ending from merging, like the old guy in the vid. Cammer was in the right.

  3.  @dannytran1290  Yep construction zones are the best use of zippers but the concept applies in any situation where 2 lanes become 1. The clip shows the cammer’s lane ending and arrows directing a merge. He correctly utilized his lane as long as he could while matching the speed of vehicles in the the thru lane. It was textbook until the old guy decided he didn’t want someone getting in front of him. More states need to be like Kansas and Missouri in terms of education and enforcement on zippers.

  4.  @dcsteve7869  Both lanes are intended to be used right up to the pinch point in a zipper scenario. This reduces congestion. Watch the clip…the cammer utilized his lane as far as he could and was conducting a perfect zipper. Unfortunately the old guy didn’t like someone getting in front of him.

  5. The zipper merge works beautifully in BOTH stop and go traffic and free-flow. This was a free flow situation and the cammer did the right thing by using his lane right up to the pinch point. His merge was perfect…until the old guy decided he wasn’t going to let him in.
