Destined Queen...I sometimes ask myself the same question! But I think it's very important for rational people like us to educate the religious..., and people who believe in the supernatural as if its real (like Scientologists).
As you know, many European countries are already majority non-believer. Religions/cults of any kind aren't accepted. And they're certainly not allowed to operate their scams tax-free, like they can in the US and Canada.
And non-believers in a 'god' is a fast growing segment of most other advanced countries, including the US. Famous atheists and anti-theists (I'm in the latter category) like Bill Maher, Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris and Richard Dawkins have helped tremendously.
I truly empathize with the religious. Most were brainwashed as children. Some are adults who've succumbed to the delusional teachings of their local mosque, church, temple.. or have been victimized by the billion-dollar 'televangelist' scams. Some are just weak minded and will seek any crazy shit for 'meaning' to life. (this loops back to my original comment).
I also debate because religion continues to commit massive crimes-against-humanity. And threaten world peace. And all crimes and war are based on non-existent gods/deities. The Christian crusades killed millions and committed mass genocides in the name of the Christian god. Islam is trying to do the same thing. That little factual tidbit is quite powerful when debating members of the Christian cult.
If you'd like an entertaining read...and an example of one of my debates, just search "Sylvester Stallone talks about Jesus". Click on the vid from "Jesus Daily" ...and scroll to the primary comment from an EnSabbahnur1. (it has 91 comments). In those comments, you will see me debating for weeks with two devout Christians/Mormons. We cover it all, including the jesus story and evolution. It's quite entertaining!
You'll note in the debate that I'm constantly attacked and insulted..although I never do the same. And you'll note dozens of times these religious people mention death.
Did I convert them to rational thought and ensure they leave their cult? Likely no. But I guarantee they were educated on facts and logic!

Destined Queen...Great points, ...and we agree on all important principles. I agree that all cults aren't religions...But I still think all religions are cults. Semantics..we can leave this topic...:)
Scientology's version of a 'god' is Xenu, Dictator of the Galaxies. They also worship L. Ron Hubbard as a deity-like person. They celebrate him in similar ways that Christians celebrate Jesus.
In this respect, Christianity is worse than Scientology! At least L.Ron Hubbard was real. The virgin-birth isn't only ludicrous, but copied from numerous previous stories of gods and prophets born to virgins on Dec. 25 (or the winter solstice). In some cases centuries prior.
It's mind-boggling that Christians and other Jesus cults haven't yet grasped the character isn't only non-existent, but was plagiarized. Some pre-Jesus stories even had magic stars and wise men. Again, mind boggling.
I agree with your list of cults. I'd add Hutterites. Like the Amish, they kind of fly under the radar. But they brutally subjugate women and abuse children (particularly girls). In this sense, they're very much like Islam, and early Christianity.

Destined Queen...thank you for your passionate opinion. Firstly, it's fascinating how you mentioned "die" two times. As I said in my previous comment, that's a sure sign of a religious person....;)
I urge you to realize there's no such thing as "heaven" or "hell". These places are about as real as "Oz", the "Deathstar", or "Middle-Earth". I'm not sure of your age, so I listed 3 appropriate comparisons covering many decades.
Also, speaking of death (you brought it up!)....it's important to realize that when we die, we first become food for the over 80% of cells in our bodies that are non-human bacteria and parasites. On that note...why would a 'god' create humans with only 20% human cells..:/
Right about now...you're irritated. You don't want to hear more facts and logic. You're wondering why I'm still talking. Why am I still educating you.
Destined Queen...it's because if you're truly religious, I sympathize with you. And religion poisons everything. Rational people can't just sit by and allow it to continue unabated. The more people that speak up... the better it is for children and society....now, and into the future. Every discussion is a chance to educate.
I'm sure there are many societal "causes" you're passionate about. You're clearly a smart person. Therefore, you should understand exactly where I'm coming from. People can't just "live our lives" and ignore issues that are damaging to humanity.
That list of cults you mentioned earlier, and other comments, show you disagree with individuals or groups forcing ideologies onto others. Keep up that way of thinking! But educating people on facts isn't "pressuring" them. By that logic, we would stop sending children to school.
So you have belief in a 'higher power'? You have faith? You hope there's something out there? You might even believe words from one of the many religious books are real (I'm guessing the bible?). You're among billions, sadly.
Faith and hope aren't based in reality or proof. For example, there's been literally thousands of different gods worshiped by our species... over thousands of years. Actually, since our species branched off from our chimp/ape cousins a few hundred thousand years ago. NONE has ever been proven to be real.
Right about now...you're maybe saying: "But you can't prove my God isn't real!!"
You're right. I also can't prove Oz, the Deathstar and Middle-Earth aren't real. Or that Unicorns and Mermaids aren't real.
But anything claimed without evidence can be dismissed without evidence. The burden of proof for a god, or other deity, is on the group making the claim. Scientologists have to prove Xenu is real.. and Christians have to prove their God is real. Non-believers don't have to prove something doesn't exist.
As I always say at this point...I truly wish you all the very best. Please don't take facts and logic personally.
