Concepts in this vid remind me of one of the best courses I've ever took: Change Management. Its principles can apply to anything. Work, relationships, family, community, societal issues, global issues, etc etc.
Change is constant in life and the world. Implementing, managing and/or adapting to change is quite simple... if you think about it as a process:
1. Awareness of the need for change is the first critical step. Educate those affected on WHY it's happening.
2. Desire of those affected by the change to participate is the next critical step. They need to understand WHAT is happening. (This step can go hand in hand with the WHY in #1)
3. Knowledge of those impacting the change on HOW to accomplish it. This is training, education, mentorship, coaching, etc.
4. Ability to implement the change. Similar to #3, it's critical those affected by the change have the ability to make it happen. And deal with outcomes, prepare for contingencies, etc.
5. Reinforcement of the change after its happened. Reminding those involved why it needed to occur. And tying the (hopefully successful) outcomes to the entire process!
Change didn't work? Go back to step 1, or pick up somewhere along the way. #3 is usually where things fall apart.
And a good way to remember these principles is the acronym ADKAR. (first word of each step).
