Related to the education solution is eliminating religion and the God delusion. Many parts of the world have yet to be properly educated on the ludicrous history of religion and the hundreds of different God myths in human history. Worse, children are brainwashed from birth to believe in just one of the many God stories and indoctrinated into their parent's cult (i.e. Christianity, Scientology, Mormonism, Islam etc). It's like teaching a child to believe there's a magical pink unicorn in the sky.

@SuperSMT ..I agree 100% with your point on "blind unquestioning faith". It relates to my point about children getting indoctrinated into their parent's cult. Blind faith is the root cause of many crimes against humanity based on religion and the God delusion. The list is long but includes wars, child abuse, terrorism, genital mutilation, genocide, and the brutal subjugation of women in many cultures (particularly Muslim countries). I also agree with you that educated people can still be religious. However, I think it's very important they realize that belief in a God (pick one) is nothing more than a superstition. And it's even more important they realize their particular God story and fictional book (i.e Bible, Koran and books of Scientology and Mormonism) was preceded by hundreds of similar stories.

@brianevans4 ..I agree there's many good people who believe in a God. And there's many good people who leverage their religion's fictional book for its good messages, rather than its hateful teachings. But humanity doesn't need a God story and fictional books for morality, or to love our neighbors. Or to do charitable work in Africa. And let's remember that the "golden rule" (do unto others) predates the current God stories by thousands of years. As does pretty much every one of the so-called "commandments" in some manner. You make an excellent point on the "scammers" using religion. They're leveraging ignorance and those who are brainwashed from birth. Millionaire Televangelists with multiple private planes is a good example. As are the Scientology and Mormon cults (both are multi $Billion dollar businesses) and of course, the $Trillion dollar Christian/Catholic cults. But of course, the worst of them all is the Islam cult. Bottom line...just imagine a world without religion and the God delusion.

Cloud9...I’d encourage you to never bring up crimes against children while trying to defend religion. Aside from the Catholic Church’s crimes, there are still Muslim countries forcing young girls to marry men (as their prophet did). Not to mention forcing them to have children as teenagers (speaking of overpopulation). And there’s still Christian sects in America practicing polygamy and forcing girls as young as 14 or 15 to marry. All because the Bible says it’s ok. Look it up. smh Just more proof of the scourge of religion. You evaded answering my questions, but I won’t belabour my point. Suffice to say it’s illogical and hypocritical for you to criticize me for “wanting to get rid of religious views” while you also don’t agree with the teachings and actions of some religions. That’s the reason for my questions. Also, there’s no such thing as “atheism delusion”. A delusion is a belief that isn’t supported with rational argument. Not believing in a God (pick one) is exactly like not believing in the Tooth Fairy. Are those that don’t believe in the Tooth Fairy delusional? Listen, I understand I can never convince you or any other believer that your stories aren’t real. I’m simply pointing out that religion and the God delusion is the root cause of many of the problems in the world. I wish you well, and have a Merry Christmas!* * Just remember the winter solstice was a holiday long before the Jesus story. And remember there’s many other stories of Gods and Prophets born on Dec. 25 (some even to virgins, hmmm) hundreds of years before the Jesus story.

@Tierchenmeister ...Well said. And I agree with your point on "blind obedience". Another person also made that point. Blind faith is the root cause of many of the problems in the world. It's mainly the result of lack of education and/or children having been brainwashed by their parents and leaders (Priests, Imams, etc) of their cult. Blind faith gets even worse when it's combined with fear. For example, Islam pretty much makes it a crime to leave the cult. There's not too many "ex-Muslims" out there. And women in many Muslim countries are particularly at risk of getting killed or tortured if they dare step outside the boundaries of their cult's rules. Christianity used many of the same techniques early in their cult's history, and there's still many Christian spin-off sects that follow archaic wording in the Bible. It's mind boggling it's still happening. And speaking of blind faith and ignorance, there's still 100s of millions of people who still believe humanity was "created" in our current form, and that stories like Noah's Ark are true! Even in educated countries like ours. One can only shake their head. Just more proof religion and the God delusion remains a poison on humanity.

@Cloud9..Do you support a Scientologist's belief in their God (Xenu) and all their related religious views? Do you support Sharia law in Islam? If you answer no to either of these questions, please explain why not.

@Cloud9...My goal is to educate, not offend. Please don't take facts and logic personally. I'm simply pointing out that religion and the God delusion is a poison on the world. The many examples of crimes against humanity I've provided should make you take a step back and question your faith. And yes, I understand that non-believers also commit crimes. Your beliefs are particularly illogical since they're monotheistic, which means you think there's only one God. Such a belief is ludicrous when you look at the hundreds (if not thousands) of different Gods humanity has worshiped. And you don't appear to understand the Christian God is the same one worshiped by Jews and Muslims. You might as well call your God "Allah". While you're right that Islam's ideologies are a bit different that Christianity's, they're also based on ignorance, superstition and a fictional book. Listen, I understand I can never convince you the fictional stories you follow aren't true. And you're right that "no one can disprove a supernatural entity". But you need to understand the burden-of-proof principle. The burden of proof is on those making a claim. No one has to disprove a claim made without evidence or rational argument. For example, I could claim there's an all-powerful Pink Unicorn in the sky that's responsible for the universe and life. You'd hopefully say my claim is ludicrous and delusional. I could then ask you to disprove it! I hope you'll learn from this example that you should never try the "you can't prove my God isn't real" argument. Bottom line, I'm simply educating you to accept facts and logic. You can believe in whatever fictional book or supernatural entity you want. Just accept that such beliefs are delusional and that religion is a poison on humanity. Happy holidays and 2020!

Religion and the God delusion is the root cause of most of the problems in the world, including over population in many countries.

@dann.5672 ..True. And I think it's important to go further back in human history to find the root cause of the poison of religion and the God delusion. We started to believe in the supernatural tens of thousands of years ago because we didn't understand many things. Hence, we formed hundreds of different religions and worshiped hundreds of different Gods. Fast forward to today. Despite a full understanding of who we are and how we got here, there's still religions based on fictional stories of the supernatural poisoning the world. It's really quite perplexing.
