  1. The gun topic is similar to the 'search and seizure' topic. In the past couple decades the US has made significant improvements to law enforcement and government's ability to conduct 'reasonable search and seizure" (the 4th Amendment, paraphrased). They adapted interpretation of the 4th (written in the 1700s) to reflect modern times. The 9/11 tragedy was a key tipping point. Along with ongoing issues of drug gangs, DUI, and illegal immigration. The principle the US Courts used to justify enhanced search/seizure by government and law enforcement was brilliantly stated: and I quote: The rights of the many outweigh the rights of the individual. This principle applies to the gun issue and any debate on the 2nd Amendment. I think we need to drastically improve and/or update interpretation of the 2nd Amendment. For example, it's time to seriously 'infringe' on access certain types of guns, and the age of those buying. The rights of the many will always outweigh the rights of the individual.
