The Democrats should have got the SCOTUS involved during the inquiry process to compel witnesses and documents. The Senate cannot (and will not, according to McConnell) rule on Executive Privilege. The Dem's rushed/flawed partisan impeachment circus and abuse of House powers is coming back to bite them...As it should.

@Noreb ..You really need to learn the definition of a "lie". In the future, just present your counterargument (which is in your second comment) rather than embarrass yourself. Regarding your claims: 1. While you're right the SCOTUS doesn't have to be involved in the impeachment process, they were involved in ALL past impeachments. This set an important legal precedent. 2. You provide a meaningless straw man argument regarding other Trump court cases. Try to stick to the topic. 3. Nope...the Dem's impeachment circus was incredibly rushed and flawed. Otherwise, we wouldn't be discussing the need for more witnesses and documents. Again...please learn what a "lie" is and leave your comments to relevant facts.

@rhyta5042 ..It's important you understand Separation of Power in our Constitution. The White House doesn't "have" to do anything when it's leveraging Executive Privilege. Past Democrat Presidents have used the exact same powers that Trump is using. And it's even more important that you realize the House isn't all-powerful. They are held in check by the Senate. The sooner you realize these facts the better. It'll soften the blow when Trump is exonerated and is still President when the Democrat's abuse of power and partisan game is over.

Fun facts: 1. Obama was cited by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) for breaking federal laws SEVEN times. But Trump does it once and it's an impeachable offense? 2. Clinton's impeachment was bi partisan and involved actual crimes, including Witness Tampering, Obstruction of Justice, and Perjury (a felony). 3. There's three distinct and equally-powerful branches of Government. The House of Representatives is NOT all-powerful. 4. The Senate keeps the House in check, and the Executive Branch has tremendous powers, including helping to keep the powers of Congress in check. 5. Meanwhile, the third branch, the SCOTUS, plays a critical role...yet isn't involved in Trump's impeachment. This is the fundamental flaw in the Democrat's entire partisan game. Why do I provide these facts? Because this is CNN comment section, where facts and logic are desperately needed.

They're on a fishing expedition. Worse, they're just trying to stretch out their circus for a clueless, Trump-hating base for as long a possible. Public opinion is in already...Support for Trump is as strong as ever and only about 3% of Americans are even watching the impeachment circus on TV. And the only "abuse of power" is the Democrats conducting a 100% partisan impeachment that isn't based on a crime. Conversely, Clinton's impeachment was bi-partisan and not only involved multiple crimes, but included a felony.

The Democrats voted to leverage one of the most important Constitutional powers provided to Congress and impeach a President due to, and I quote, an "Overwhelming and rock solid case". 2. Isn't it funny how there is, in fact, no evidence of crime, let alone a rock solid case for removal. 3. The Dems abuse of power is their 100% partisan impeachment. 4. It's ludicrous for Dems to try to rewrite history regarding Clinton's bipartisan impeachment. He committed major crimes, including Witness Tampering, Obstruction of Justice, and Perjury (a felony). And before you say it...what he lied about is completely irrelevant. And speaking of oaths..... 5. Your use of the Graham quote is smart. Touche. 6. A friendly reminder that Obama was cited by the GAO office for breaking federal laws SEVEN times. Yep, the same GAO office the Dems are using to accuse Trump of a the "crime" of withholding aid. Bottom line, the Democrats have embarrassed themselves and shown their utter incompetence. Regardless what happens next, Trump will still be President when it's all over. I remain perplexed Democrats don't see that Trump is simply leveraging the same Constitutional powers as the Democrats are using/abusing. Congress IS NOT all-powerful. The Democrats biggest mistake (among many) was not getting the SCOTUS involved in their impeachment circus.
