And mosques, temples, synogogues and the "churches" of Scientology and Satan. Yep, they both get massive tax breaks and incentives too.

Agree. The scope of the Televangelist scam is mind boggling. One of them has FIVE private jets, all paid for by delusional followers. The God delusion is a mental illness leveraged by religion for money and control. And you're right...children are the true victims. They're brainwashed from birth with the God delusion and fictional books (bible, koran, book of mormon, etc) and indoctrinated into their parent's cult. If we taxed the multi-billion dollar religion/cult business just like all other businesses, it would indeed pay for healthcare...and countless other govt programs. Heck, we'd probably balance the budget and start paying down the national debt in a few years.

Alexa...Why are they doing it? Unfortunately, It's because the religious vote is still critical to political success in America. For example, we have two Democrat Congresswomen (Omar and Talib) who have massive support from the large Muslim base in their districts and will likely never be voted out. And we have countless other politicians who wouldn't be in office without votes from their fellow cult members (Christians and Mormons in particular). In the last 50 years we've had at least two Presidents (Carter and Bush Jr.) who made religion and the God delusion a central part of their leadership of the country. As you point out, it's completely unacceptable based on the Constitution and rational thought.

@sophia-tj1ck ....I respect whatever people want to believe. However, I'd prefer they keep their beliefs to their private life and out of government and society. And please note that I have tremendous sympathy for members of religions/cults. As I said earlier, most are victims of massive brainwashing and indoctrination as children. My primary disdain is for organized religion and its negative effects on people and society as a whole. Regarding your specific point, please remember the definition of 'delusional': "Holding idiosyncratic beliefs or impressions that are contradicted by reality or rational argument." A belief in a fictional character created many different times in human history (there's been hundreds of different God stories) fits this definition perfectly. Such a belief contradicts reality and rational argument. I'll also explain using an example: If you met a person who believed there's a Pink Unicorn in the sky responsible for the universe and life, what word would you use to describe that person?

I wish more were making that point. If women want to be in full control of their bodies and avoid ever having to make a choice on abortion, using birth control seems pretty logical. I'd love to see the data on how may abortions are on women who could've easily avoided the situation.

If women want to be in full control of their bodies and avoid ever having to make a choice on abortion...wouldn't using birth control be a smart approach? I'd love to see the data on how may abortions are on women who could've easily avoided the situation. (And yes, I understand that birth control isn't 100% effective and some women get pregnant against their wishes)
