A poll last year showed only 47% of Americans would support a socialist President (link below). That percentage was at the bottom of a long list that included whether people would support a Muslim (66%) and an Atheist (60%). Think about that. Bernie's unicorn promises and mind-numbing demagoguery is only working on the "low information" Democrat base. The fact he may actually win the nomination is the worst nightmare for the DNC. He'd be the easiest win for Trump and the GOP....by far. Disagree? Ask yourself how Bernie would do in debates when he tries to sell higher taxes on the middle class and $Trillions in new debt so (in part) illegals can get free healthcare. https://news.gallup.com/poll/254120/less-half-vote-socialist-president.aspx

vlaf9...You may like paying much higher taxes to fund free healthcare for illegals in your country but I guarantee you most of us down here won't. And you probably don't understand that America is a Republic, not a Democracy. Lastly..and for the benefit of others in this section who believe Bernie's unicorn promise of "free" healthcare, why didn't it work in his home State of Vermont? .. https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/why-vermonts-single-payer-effort-failed-and-what-democrats-can-learn-from-it/2019/04/29/c9789018-3ab8-11e9-a2cd-307b06d0257b_story.html

@vlaf9 ...I'm always entertained when Canadians think they understand America. We have a State (California) with a larger population and economy. You also should educate yourself on the massive differences between our countries. And not just the politics. For example, we have over 10 million illegals...which is about 1/3 of the entire population of Canada. Yet you think it would be "solidarity" to give them free healthcare?! smh Trump puts America (and Americans) first. You've got a globalist photo-op leader who is just like Obama...a fake. Before you post anymore comments in CNN comment sections touting Bernie the demagogue-socialist, do some research on facts.

JamesHLanier ...I encourage you to do some research of non-partisan sources that show the true cost of Bernie's "free" healthcare. His claims it will cost the same as the current system is the definition of unicorn math...and unicorn promises. Moreover, there's 100s of millions of Americans who are perfectly happy with our public/private healthcare model (including many unions) You'll also find in your research on the real cost of "free" healthcare that ANY country with universal healthcare has an average citizen tax burden FAR above ours. And in the case of some European countries it's about DOUBLE ours (i.e. Denmark). America is built on capitalism. Those who think Bernie's demagogue promises of "taxing the 1%" and "taxing Wallstreet" will help the country are examples of my aforementioned "low information" Democrat base. I'll grant you one fact, which is proven in polls: Bernie would probably win the popular vote against Trump. But he'd be slaughtered (as was Hillary) in the Electoral College.
