Families entering the country legally don't have to worry about being separated at the border. That's the only fact that matters.

@nuckenfuts7750 ...If you're referring to the families, I'd like to see some facts and data to back up that assertion.

@achillessix846 ..Take away the oddly misplaced insult.. and we agree. If families wanting asylum or citizenship follow all the proper channels, they don't have to worry about border detention issues. There's plenty of services available in Mexico to guide them, including the US embassy.

@nuckenfuts7750 ..We agree 100% on the Democrats. I wasn't sure who you were referring to...hence my preface of "If you're referring to the families..".

@jsmcguireIII ..Just curious...did you feel the same when the Obama administration denied and deported asylum seekers by the thousands?
1
@jsmcguireIII ..Incorrect. See link below. Obama used the same policies and logic that Trump is using. Legal asylum requests are welcome. Those who cross the border illegally should be sent back. Of course, this is now moot because a California judge has stopped the practice. All the more reason we need far better deterrents at the border, including a far longer wall/fence in high risk areas. If people can't set foot on American soil they have to claim asylum using proper channels. https://www.amnestyusa.org/reaping-the-harvest-of-fear-the-obama-administration-deports-asylum-seekers/

@jsmcguireIII ..Do you think we should allow an unlimited number of asylum requests? If no, explain how we can best control the numbers.
1
@jsmcguireIII ..It's good you agree we need limits on asylum seekers. Many on the left think otherwise. And although you're unable/unwilling to answer the second part of my question, I'll presume you understand the solutions to limit the numbers include a strong border and detention/deportation of those who haven't followed proper procedures to get here.
1
@jsmcguireIII ..Yes, I acknowledged the Judge's recent decision earlier in our chat. But I'm now confused...So you're ok with unlimited refugees entering the country? If no, why not?
1
@jsmcguireIII ..We're pretty much on the same page. I agree we need limits on asylum seekers. And to properly deter and control the influx of those crossing the border illegally, we need a more secure border and laws that allow quick deportation for those who don't follow proper procedures to get here. I also see that Mexico is now stepping up security on their southern border and deporting hundreds of central american refugees before they can make it to America. Again, we agree on the fundamentals of the issue.
