I guarantee that any city with a major problem with bums and transients also has plenty of services, free food and clothing, etc. Take away all the free stuff and other incentives, and watch the problem decrease.

@petegromov9037 ..That's also a good principle. And it might have some relevance to this situation in Austin. However, in the big picture, I think the rights of hard working, tax-paying Americans to live without fear of crime and disease from bums and transients must take precedent. As well, we have a right to quality-of-life, property values and sending our kids into public areas without fear of harassment.

@petegromov9037 ..Incorrect. This is America, not the land of paleo-natives who migrated from what's now known as Siberia tens of thousands of years ago. Native Americans lost in what are best described as tribal wars among our species. They surrendered and ceded land and signed treaties. And any land they didn't officially cede is theirs for the taking. All they have to do is enter into another tribal war. Whether you agree with how our country took form is irrelevant. We can't change the history of America.

Well said. And until we start taking a hard-line approach throughout the country to the issue, it'll only get worse. And if we put Democrats in power again, just imagine the influx of illegals to make the issue even worse. As well, Warren and Sanders want to give free healthcare to illegals and all these people living on the streets. No rational person can support such policies.
