@Spearhand00 ..So...Do you think we should eliminate all laws? You know, since none of them will prevent someone from committing a crime? Serious question. Be careful in your answer, or you'll further embarrass yourself.

We're not living in the 1700s. And there's already hundreds of laws and regulations that "infringe" on access to guns. A few more will help mitigate future gun violence.

It actually is. It's the SCOTUS that ultimately determines the laws and regulations around guns, not the Constitution. While the central principle of the 2nd Amendment will always remain, access to guns has been, and always will be, significantly "infringed" upon. We're not living in the 1700s.

Marshall Boling..Freedom is relative. We’re a country of many layers of laws (federal, State, municipal) so there are limits to our freedom. Rather large ones when you think about it. We also live under an important premise that the rights of the many outweigh the rights of the individual. In fact, the SCOTUS has referred to this principle in some of its decisions. In other words, the rights of people to live in a safe society outweighs our rights to many freedoms. The examples are endless, but the Patriot Act and many laws giving government and law enforcement significant powers for “reasonable search and seizure” (the 4th Amendment paraphrased) are good ones. And as noted, there are already a huge amount of infringements on guns. And there will undoubtedly be more. Whether people like it or not.

If nothing else, it's good that people are learning that it's the SCOTUS that ultimately determines the laws and regulations around guns, not the Constitution. King's Harem ..It's already been amended a couple dozen times. And there's already hundreds of laws and regulations to provide interpretations that reflect the fact we're not living in the 1700s. You should realize the Constitution is a seriously flawed and out dated document. The sooner you realize this the more accepting you'll be to new laws and regulations on gun control, among other changes to reflect the world we live in.

You make good points on the Heller case. And you're right stating "the majority of Americans are in support of sensible regulations" on gun ownership. But you ruin a good comment by calling others "Trumptards" simply because you disagree with their opinion. I know this is a CNN comment section so I expect misplaced ad hominem. But I still find it mind boggling that people fail to keep their views to the issue being discussed. The topic is gun control and the role of the SCOTUS in enacting more infringements on access to guns (and gun accessories), not Trump or Russia.
