"Peacefully and patriotically"---Trump, January 6, 2021 Remember these words, because they're the main reason the Senate will never convict. Trump's second impeachment is as meaningless to his legacy as the first.

@wilywascal2024 ...Let's be honest, we both know there's zero chance the Senate will convict Trump. Aside from the aforementioned lack of due-process, Trump clearly didn't want violence. He said many stupid things...just like he did in his "perfect" call with Ukraine, but they're not clear evidence of "inciting a riot". If we use that filter, many Democrat leaders have incited riots and violence in the past year. Impeachment is one of the greatest powers given the House. Constitutional lawyers spoke at length on this principle in Trump's first impeachment. And one of them even warned the Democrats of how history would reflect on an 100% partisan impeachment. Yet Pelosi did it anyway, despite saying in 2017: "We can't impeach Trump unless it's bipartisan". Bottom line, the Democrats have crapped on the Constitution and forever lowered the bar for impeachment. If a Republican-majority House ever impeaches a Democrat President with a 100% partisan vote (or no actual crime), their voters can't complain.

@wilywascal2024 ...Read my comment again. I was referring to the 100% partisan vote in Trump's first impeachment. Again, the blatant abuse of Congressional powers will haunt Pelosi and the Democrat party forever. And Trump's second impeachment is even more meaningless to his legacy, particularly since it's the first in history that didn't allow an investigation or hearings. Have a good one.

@patallojomom ..You're right. He will always be known as a President who was impeached twice. But they were meaningless. Here's why: 1. The first impeachment was 100% partisan and a blatant abuse of Congressional powers by Pelosi, Schiff and the House Democrats. In fact, their case was so weak 2 Democrats voted against impeachment. It was the first 100% partisan impeachment in history. 2. This second impeachment didn't have any investigations or hearings. There was no opportunity for the defense to present an argument before the trial. It's the first impeachment in history to ignore these basic principles of Justice. Bottom line, there's zero chance Trump will be convicted by the Senate with this second impeachment. His legacy will remain untarnished by the Democrat's abuse of power and taking a crap on the Constitution.
