Thank you so much for this, Dear Man! BRILLIANT ANALYSIS AND DELIVERY.

A hybrid system of socialism and capitalism has worked to lift many millions out of poverty in both Russia and China. They are also different styles of democratic states. If you're interested, check out THE LEFT LENS , THE NEW ATLAS and other programs that go into depth about these issues. They're out there. Or reply here and I can send a more complete list.

@schrodingerscat1863 No, actually I know they are because I've studied both forms of government in general and kept an open mind and studied both counties individually. I'm 72 and for most of my life was a journalist and editor of an international bi-monthly--and even a war correspondent. Don't buy opinions; you're right about that. Most folks prefer easy, simplistic labels that fit comfortably into their biases. They aren't truly curious. Firsthand knowledge and experience based on open-minded curiosity rather than a political agenda are far more interesting to me. On YouTube you can watch a great series called Trip Bitten. Made by a US citizen who's been living in China for 13 years (not a journalist), it will show you what life is actually like there from a relatively unbiased point of view. (He went there for a tech job with grave misgivings because of Western propaganda.) For a more political analysis watch other programs like THE LEFT LENS or THE DURAN or THE NEW ATLAS...or several others with more educational content and fewer glib sound bites. As for Russia, you need to know it's been one of the big tourist destinations of Europeans for a very long time time. With good reason. You might want to start by looking up DANCING IN GORKY PARK and MOSCOW SUBWAY. Simply look closely at what people are wearing and their demeanor, it tells you more than words can about their lives. We're so lucky to be able to investigate our interests from the comfort of our homes now you might as well take advantage of the opportunity and enjoy it with an open mind. Notice the little things as well as the "sights." What do they directly tell you? I hope you have the time and curiosity to investigate further. It's very enjoyable-- even when it upsets our preconceived notions about things. I've found that it's only when we step outside our little zones of comfort the world becomes far more exciting than we can possibly imagine. Have fun!
