  1. It was a dramatization of an actual event based on Oliver Sacks' memoirs of his 1969 experiment using L-Dopa on catatonic patients. These patients had been catatonic for decades and awoke to a world completely different from the one they knew before. Unfortunately, the drug only worked for a relatively short time. An excellent 1990 film-- with Robin Williams and Robert de Niro-- based on an excellent memoir.
