  3. The Ukrainian militias killed 14,000 Russian-speaking people for 8 years in the region now embattled. They raped and tortured many more. Those people, in the eastern sections, who wanted to have closer ties to Russia (and who have relatives there) begged for Russia's support to stop the violence by the Ukrainians. FOR EIGHT YEARS. Russia made numerous attempts to achieve this through diplomatic channels with the Zelenski regime. To no avail. Russia finally stepped in to help the people in the eastern sections by lending support to their already-formed defensive groups. It is those groups that have been the primary forces fighting the Ukrainian forces. Very few actual Russians are fighting. Russia has primarily been lending humanitarian and military support in other ways. For the best information on this see THE DURAN. This was a basically decent, but extremely incomplete report--still, it was a courageous start.
