I sympathize with her, but wish she'd had more courage. It's too easy to say either of us could've handled it better, not personally experiencing what she, an academic administrator, was going through. She's not an activist.

  5. Things look different when the fire is directed at you. You don't sound like you've actually been in the trenches. I'm 73 and have been an activist "in the trenches" numerous times. Been imprisoned, etc (Literally was in the trenches in a foreign country at one point.) Things are more nuanced than your limited experience allows you to see. Gay did her PERSONAL best to stand up for freedom of expression. That's all one can ask either of ones self or another.

  6.  @DearProfessorRF  Yeah, damned disingenuous of her. She's an easy target for a lot of warranted disgust, BUT IT'S ALL BESIDE THE POINT! It's not about her! It's about shutting down free discourse on college campuses. And THAT, dear friends, is what it's ALL about. That and NOTHING else. Let's not let them distract our attention with any red herrings.
