I was dismayed Prof Wolff didn't mention two critical indicators of the health of a society as a whole: China now has the largest middle class in the world because it lifted 850 MILLION out of dire poverty. AND the purchasing power of the average Chinese is now higher than for those of us in the US. ALSO, the Chinese social support systems are robust and Chinese infrastructure is.... almost unbelievable, it's so far advanced from any other large, diverse country. I also wish he'd talked about China's BELT AND ROAD INITIATIVE. Essentially, by helping other countries build the infrastructure to grow their economies, China obtains valuable trading partners. (It's a no-brainer, but to the countries used to colonizing and pillaging others it's an entirely new, and uncomfortable, paradigm to retool their systems around.)

  3. All innovations are necessarily built on the backs of previous ones. Think about it further. And deeper. Also find out how their innovative technologies, and the systems that make them possible, are so far advanced most (literally) other countries have been getting China's help for about two decades. The more one learns the more one is in awe of what the Chinese have done-- and are doing.
