  1. Sabine calls them “plans” but they are not really that. More like illustrations of what would have to happen. Nobody thinks these things actually will happen. do they ? That would be delusional.

  2. Yep, life expectancy has increased from 30 something to 70 something. Agriculture has progressed from feeding 2 billion to feeding 9 billion, GDP per capita has gone up a factor of 7, Literacy has gone up a factor of 4 etc, etc ... basically the greatest flourishing of humankind ever.

  8. They are not plans though … Just illustrations of what’s required to achieve net zero. eg; the IPCC can’t make a plan for the grid. You can only do that if you control the budget for the grid.

  9.  @TalismancerM  Sure, governments do love to make ‘plans’ for things they don’t control, but they are practically meaningless. The UK national grid is privately owned. The government can’t make plans for a private company. Having said that Ofgen did give them almost £1,000,000 for Net Zero last year … but that’s for research.

  12. She’s often deliberately provocative to get a reaction. She is doing it right here; calling illustrations (of what would need to happen to achieve NZ) “plans”. They are not plans and never were intended to be plans.
