In May 2021 the number of Cat 1 (life threatening) ambulance calls went from typically 50,000 per month to 80,000. And it’s still 80,000. A 30% increase. Damn right the NHS is overwhelmed, and EVERYBODY KNOWS WHY … What happened in early 2021 ? Duh.

@norbertfontaine8524 , eg; Oct 2020 (the covid year) Cat 1 call Outs = 60,670 Oct 2022 Cat 1 Call-Outs = 83,986 All the hand-wringing and agonising on TV about staff numbers and bed blocking is a smokescreen.

Correct … If you work for a private company and you’re failing they don’t throw money at you … they take it away.

@norbertfontaine8524 It’s NHS data, but it’s not easy to find. Interested students should search for “NHS ambulance quality indicator statistics” AmbSYS time series. Response time tab. Column C1 Count of incidents. You don’t need a fancy chart - the step change around May 2021 is clear just by eyeballing the numbers The scary thing (seriously scary) is the numbers stay high - no sign of going back to 2020 levels.
