TheColossalBlanket, Correct! Well done. We baby boomers do indeed know what it was like to survive through 24% inflation and 12% unemployment of the 1970s. You are about to find out. Good luck to you... After the 1970s in the UK we got Thatcher. After the 1930s Germany got something far worse.... You are going to love it... x

Does this bloke ever say anything constructive? He just whining. There are far too many doctors and medical professors telling the government what to do. These people with their six figure salaries and gold plated pensions will never have a day of economic hardship in their lives. They will never know how utterly life and soul destroying it is to be unemployed when there is a scarcity of jobs. Of course they are happy to trash the economy. It's nothing to them.

Karen Campbell , Ever so sorry but he is whining. The death rate for NHS staff is the same as for everybody else of working age. So, if you work for the NHS, like I used to, and my sister does, and my brother-in-law does, and my neice does and many more I know and love, your chance of dying from CV19 are much the same as if you had any other profession. The are one or two exceptionally high risk jobs like bus driver, but nurses and doctors are the same as everybody else in that age group..

mike murray , You want more doctors and professors on six figure salaries telling the government what to do ? I would like to see more social workers advising government. If you are a privaliged pensioner with cv19 we shut down the economy for you. Take the sole source of income from millions of low income families so some frail old people can live a few more weeks until they catch the next cold that kills them. and btw if you have cancer now,...just hang on a while until we get round to you. But you think that's ok.

Your quite right. If it is any consolation, the death rate of NHS staff is very much the same it is for everyone else of working age, not significantly higher, nor significantly lower.
