  7. Ukraine holding out was a political thorn in the side of the Biden administration. Doing the right thing in 2022 before the midterms would have gotten the democrats blamed for high oil prices. They took a modified non-victory approach, talking about not escalating to WWIII. Politicians are more concerned about not doing the wrong thing than they are about doing the right thing.
