  1. The coppers there are something else indeed, they have terrible Communication skills; by hiding ALL information they only fuel the speculation they want everyone to avoid. But this is the Age of Over-Information, and such things are not really feasible in cases like this. We all care and want to know, at least why they thought she was IN the river for one thing.
