  1. ​​ @wacowildcat the startle response is somewhat genetic. Newborns in the hospital nursery were studied. Just after birth, there was a difference as to how the babies reacted when touched, startled, etc. Of course what happens in their lives when being raised will have an effect. But some part is in the genes.
