  1. I find it amusing your usage of the words "design" and "engineering" relating to a Chinese appliance. Never underestimate a Chinese "engineer's" ability to screw a stolen design. Big Clive himself often shows how Chinese electronics have built-in safety designs that are somehow bypassed; as if one engineer built the safety in, and another engineer undoes the safety measures. This is more commonly seen in power supplies, where the high voltage side of a circuit board has a wide gap separating it from the low voltage side, to prevent arcing; a Chinese knockoff device will have a very similar board, with the safety gap reduced in some places, "to save up space." Most likely, the "Galanz engineers" just copied another manufacturer's fridge, then moved things around without ever comprehending the consequences. The cleverness and good engineering aspects are just vestigial remains of the original product they tried to copy from.
