It is so wonderful that you freed this bird; she would have definitely died without your help. To anyone rescuing any trapped animal; as someone pointed out, if you can, cover their eyes to relax them. Also, everyone around a trapped animal should be calm and quiet. The screaming children just escalated the fear for this bird.
