At the end of they day they are still heavily underemployed. It's not about finding a job, but finding a job that isn't crap.

@starmorpheus I don't mind the road being hard, problem is there's too many cars and they're all stuck in traffic. STEM degrees are not only good because they often make great money, but also because what they learn often directly relates to their careers. A Software Engineer is a progragrammer, a Chemist is a Lab Technician, etc. Liberal Art degrees are often extremely general, which is a huge disadvantage in a world that values specialist and specific skills. Add in that those said skill are extremely common due to saturation and having a Liberal Arts degree becomes a hard road, that's not worth the drive, with a unknown destination. Seeing as that destination for 90% of people are "generic entry level job with low pay", I'd doubt most Liberal Art majors would feel that road is worth traveling. I'm not saying don't go out and get a Liberal Arts degree. If you don't mind the money thing, go for it. All i ask is colleges make it more aware of the risks. Instead they pump naive young adults through not telling them any important stuff like likely entry level salary for most graduates, job security for each degree, etc. Something that is probably important for someone who has $50k+ in student loans.

@chapachuu Well, you're essentially then just going to law school because you realized your Philosophy degree is terrible, and you need a secondary education to rebound off of. Nothing wrong with that though. Better that than just sucking it up and being stuck in lower income. I just reccomend getting a better degree from the beginning then have law school as a backup. So if the law thing doesn't work out or something, you at least can fall back into a well paying job regardless. Though keep in mind the field of law is pretty saturated now too for this exact reason; a lot liberal art majors have the same idea. Most lawyers starting salary is roughly 37k-42k, working extra long hours overworked. My brother been a lawyer for about 10 years now, makes 47k, and hates it. Still reccomend it though, as it's end goal after 20+ years is still far better than the average person.

@Santisima_Trinidad True. Personally, I joined the military because it was the only way to escape my abusive household. My mom stole my FASFA money, and took most of my work money. Military was my only way out. If I had a choice I would've just dug into some student loans, got a easy degree, then commissioned as an officer. Well, they could certainly replace a few of the gen eds they force on us with core beginner stuff from law/med school. Like the Pre-Med degree is college, how about actually adding a year worth of medical school classes to the degree? Or at least some kind of prep.

Yeah, your brother is very lucky. Most Philosophy graduates are very under employed. Usually around the 31k range ($15 dollars an hour).

@Santisima_Trinidad Oh I see what you mean. Yeah, getting a "easy" degree just to get the requirements out the way for law/ medicine/etc is understandable. It's what I tell people who consider joining the military. Get a easy degree in anything, then join the military as a commissioned 2nd lieutenant. I do wish you could skip all that though. Especially in the case of med school. I shouldn't have to take theatre appreciation class just to do heart surgery lol.

@Santisima_Trinidad Thanks, I appreciate that. I'm far better off now. I cut off my mom. Served in the Marine Corp for five years. I recently graduated from my university, and currently in school getting my second degree.

@BiG-JuPO1O1 Most Economic graduates take at least a year till they land their first high paying job. So it's high risk, high reward. Personally, I rather go Accounting then, it's similar and far less risky.
