Little lesson to be learnt. It's always wise to check fluid levels before taking a customers car on a test drive. If that thing had spun a bearing whilst the mechanic is driving it you've got a real awkward situation with the customer.

@whiskeybent1412 Issue is the customer will blame YOU EVERYTIME! It's not about right or wrong, you were the one driving the vehicle so I bet a court would hold you responsible if a customer took it that far - your the expert, duty of care and all that blah blah... It's just the crazy world we live in nowadays, it isn't right but a lot of people have zero accountability so you have to get used to doing these sorts of things to cover your ass. Most mechanics don't have the luxury of being able to film everything they do everyday as most shops wouldn't allow it. Same goes for bald tyres, missing lug nuts ect - here in the UK (not sure about USA) the police couldn't care less that the car isn't yours and your a mechanic test driving it, you'll get prosecuted for all the vehicle defects if your stopped and the vehicle is considered unroadworthy as your the one responsible for the vehicle at that time. We have a points system for driving infractions here, 12 points on your license and you've got a 12mth driving ban - each bald tyre is 3pts.
