We dont have so much of this to worry about in the UK, mainly because liability waivers don't count for shit here - courts would never back you as your the pro, not the customer (which is right when you think about it). So if the shop says no, the answers no. If the garage you work for still tries to force you to do it then best start looking a new job right away as the mechanic takes the legal liability on.
