What really doesnt help is OEM's not knowing what base values should be for sensors/actuators ect. I refuse to believe Renault doesn't know what the base reading should be from that turbo actuator position sensor - they just want i dependants having that information in an attempt to corner the market for themselves.

@Diagnosedan Well, those values must still be known by someone other then the turbo manufacturer as how would you ever be able to write the EPROM for the ECU?

It's no different in my industry (forklift mechanic) we often get controllers that report random errors that might only happen once every few weeks and will never do it while we're on site diagnosing - you can't fix what isn't broken. You end up having to go back to the depot, pulling a controller out of another machine, fitting it and kind of loaning it to the customer for a week or two - total PITA but when you're talking about a £3500 logic board/inverter you've got to be certain. Now that this level of microcontroller based technology has been around a long time I've noticed customers are becoming more understanding. My response to customers is if I had the skills/equipment to diagnose the internals of logic controllers I wouldn't be fixing forklifts for a living 😂
