  1. ​ @dboy413 I think most anyone with even a shred of humanity would attempt to carry the poor guy to safety if it was the only option - they might not succeed, but they'd try. I'm not trying to downplay this officer's actions (he was incredible) but the whole 'dig down and push on' is built into most of us in a situation of life and death whether that be our or someone else's. It's what makes us human. Don't underestimate your abilities because you've never had to use them.

I'll also add what these emotional idiots don't realise if you take someone to court on a completely inappropriate charge, guess what happens? The case gets thrown out by the judge and the perp walks away scot free. Police/state prosecutors choose the charge carefully to give the best chance of a conviction.
