  2. That IBF belt looks pretty and all...but it means zero for Scull and adds no legitimacy to his status as champion. That particular belt has been passed around like a gravy boat on Thanksgiving. Caleb Plant auctioned it off to Canelo in exchange for $10 million dollars and a beating; and the same thing will happen to Scull. I saw video of this kid and saw absolutely nothing special here. He'd better save his $$.

  3. My guess is Canelo gets by William Scull fairly easily, then goes after Dmitry Bivol. Frankly, Terence Crawford is a box office bust and doesn't deserve the Canelo fight. He waits around for paydays, and has zero to offer Canelo. He stands no shot at winning and Canelo is in a no-win situation with him. A win over Bivol will make him an even bigger legend.

  6.  @BudKing96  Yes. Canelo went into their first fight with a damaged right hand, and the fight was still competitive regardless of what anyone says. All three judges had it 115-113, I believe. So if Canelo had won one more round, it would have been a draw. I think Bivol is excellent, for sure. But he took some serious shots versus Beterbiev, and Canelo is motivated to get revenge....

  7.  @Boosiefade123  Sorry, but he's made peanuts so far in his career. His biggest fight was against Oscar Valdez a few years ago, and he probably topped out in the high 6-figures. Problem is the dude is boring. Nobody will pay to see him run around the ring for 12 rounds. He's probably going to pull the race card later and blame everyone but himself for his lack of popularity. Same thing his friend Bud Crawford did. That doesn't inspire anyone to watch him fight.

  12. Arum brought awareness to the art of matchmaking, and especially ethnic matchups that yield the most revenue. Oscar De La Hoya was not a great fighter, but Arum did a wonderful job marketing him to the Hispanic audience and parlaying his looks and gold medal into a fortune.

  21. @waltervaz4102  nobody, and I mean nobody, was calling for or asking for a Canelo-Crawford fight. It's a garbage fight and Canelo has nothing to gain from it. I would have more respect for Bud if he just started a GoFundme account rather than to convince people he wants a Canelo fight for any other reason besides a payday.

  24. @ Why should anyone pay to see Bud Crawford fight? What does he bring to the table? Nothing. He's a good fighter, but Canelo should not reward his laziness by giving him a PPV shot. Pleanty of other more deserving fighters who can actually sell tickets: Bivol, Benavidez...heck, even the winner of Eubanks/Benn.

  25. @runninreb9142  I don't know what you're talking about. All I know is that Crawford will be asking for a bunch of money to fight Canelo--much more than Amir Khan received. I just want to know what Crawford has done to deserve it. Have ANY of his fights turned a profit? What exactly does he add to the matchup? He has absolutely nothing to lose. If Canelo knocks him out, What's the first thing that will come out of Crawford's mouth? That Canelo was too big for him, and the extra weight slowed him down, etc. I hope Canelo doesn't reward Crawford with a shot. Remember, this is the same Crawford who pulled the race card on Bob Arum, and accused Canelo of avoiding black fighters. Why would anyone want to pay to see him fight?

I've never really understood why he's on everyone's P4P list. Please name me just one star in his prime Crawford defeated. Fact is, he'll be asking for a bunch of money to face Canelo, and he doesn't deserve any of it because none of his fights have generated a profit. Canelo stands to gain absolutely nothing by facing him. The first thing that will come out of Bud's mouth when he loses will be that he was too small and the weight slowed him down. I don't want to pay to see this garbage fight.

  27. The good thing about Oscar? He fought just about all the best fighters of his era. The bad part? He lost to just about all of them, lost to Mosley (twice), Felix Trinidad, Bernard Hopkins, Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather, and was lucky to get decisions over a faded Pernell Whitaker, Felix Sturm, and Ike Quartey. Best wins over a face-first Fernando Vargas and elderly Julio Cesar Chavez. Good fighter? Sure. Great? No way.

Scull is a 32-year old with 23 fights and 9 KO"s who will run around for 12 rounds in that amateurish, Cuban style, get shut out, and then complain that he deserved to win. I've seen it plenty of times before. As for the Bivol fight, all three judges had it 115-113 in their first fight. It was close and I agreed with the judges. It's a very winnable fight for a healthy Canelo.

Those belts he won don't mean spit. Bud could walk down any street in America completely unnoticed. Facts. So could Shakur.

Tank understands that, Mike Tyson understood that. Anthony Joshua understands that even though he got KO'd. He showed heart. Shakur has never shown heart. People can see that.

Pernell Whitaker was a damn good boxer but made mostly peanuts until Oscar blessed him. Floyd was strictly a non-attraction, non-ppv boxer on HBO until Oscar blessed him with his shot. Other examples.

Tank has a bunch of them, guy: Barrios, Santa Cruz, Garcia....What good does it do a fighter if he has skills but nobody wants to pay to see him? Is he in it for exercise? It's not showfriends...it's showbusiness. Go study.

I've seen plenty of fighters much better and more popular than Shakur will ever be-- Tyson, Evander, Chavez, RJJ...most wind up fighting into their 40's or even their 50's making side shows out of themselves because they lost all their $$$ somehow. I hope it doesn't happen to Shakur, but he hasn't helped himself by his inactivity.

Shakur needs to focus on the ethnic matchups, like the one he had versus Oscar Valdez. Mexican fighters are very popular and he could make more $ that way. That's what Floyd found out. It's all about the matchups.

  53. Interviewer brought up a good point: There are too many sanctioning bodies and anonymous, inferior champions holding belts now. Being undisputed meant you were special back in the 1970's or 1980's--guys like Mike Tyson, Ray Leonard, Marvelous Marvin Hagler, and Lennox Lewis, for example, were all special. Now? Guys like Josh Taylor, Jermell Charlo, Devin Haney, and even Bud Crawford, were all undisputed at one point, and none of them are special.

He thought becoming undisputed at 140 and 147 would make him a PPV star...and the guy is a money loser at the box office. Nobody wants to see him fight because he fights inferior fighters for peanuts in Omaha once every other year. Bud never developed his own brand as a fighter willing to take risks, and It's the reason why he's 38 years old and begging another fighter for a retirement payday. Canelo could throw all his belts away in the trash and he could still sell out any arena in the world. Think about it.

  60. @saifhussain9701 The difference between Canelo and Bud is that Canelo sells tickets and has generated hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue throughout his career. Bud has not. Therefore, Canelo can fight whoever he wants because he makes profitable fights. Bud does not. Bud has never been popular because fans can see he has never put himself in real danger or took any real challenges. Canelo doesn't need Crawford. Crawford needs Canelo because he cannot sell on his own.
