Him and his brother beat up a bunch of C/C- level opponents. How does that make you great? They mostly put American audiences to sleep.

One of the greatest heavyweight champions ever?? What planet are you from?

@utpalninjajedi I remember like it was yesterday how his brother Wladimir was being fastracked for a heavyweight title by HBO before getting knocked out by "legends" like Ross Purrity, Lamon Brewster, and Corrie Sanders. His brother was a little bit better, but not by much.

@jimman758 As for Lennox Lewis, he is definitely in my top-10 greatest heavyweights of all-time. But calling him the best ever is a little bit of a stretch. He did get knocked out cold by a couple of clubfighters in Oliver McCall and Hasim Rahman. He was a great heavyweight, though. No Doubt.

@bnegs521 I'm reading a bunch of comments from boxing neophytes. Vitali and his brother just happened to come around during the competitive nadir of the heavyweight division--after greats like Holyfield and Tyson had aged out and retired. They were so exciting American TV didn't even carry any of their title defenses, which were mostly against Euro trash competition. Get real.

@lukedemello2077 You're right. MMA was just coming into prominence when both Klitschko brothers basically hijacked the heavyweight titles for about 10 years. There were infomercials that got better ratings than Klitschko title defenses. I tried to give Wlad the benefit of the doubt until he completely gassed out against Lamon Brewster. After that, I knew they were not to be taken seriously.

@bnegs521 The "Lineal" designation is some marketing tool invented to sell tickets and draw in fans who are less educated about the sport. Guys like Fury and Joshua are lucky they weren't around during the reigns of Tyson, Evander, and Lennox. If Wlad got gassed out against someone like Purrity, he would have been beat like a child versus any of those three i mentioned.

@bnegs521 Yes. Canelo Alvarez is 5'8" and has consistently made easy work of taller European pastries like Callum Smith, Billy Joe Saunders, Rocky Fielding, etc...Mike Tyson was always smaller in height than his opponents. Wasn't a big factor. My guess is Vitali would have left the fight in an ambulance.

@bnegs521 Please explain. How is a guy like Vitali so great when he quit against a guy like Chris Byrd and was stopped by an old Lennox Lewis? And how is Wlad so great when he gassed out against "legendary" fighters like Ross Purrity, Lamon Brewster, and Corrie Sanders? What's so great about that? His records is filled with defenses against a bunch of European bums. Go learn about what you're talking about.

@PowerCertAnimatedVideos Yes I agree. I saw Vitali fight Chris Arreola live at what was then called Staples Center in 2010 (??). He basically made hamburger meat out of Arreola's face until they stopped it. Vitali fought a higher level opposition, for sure. Wlad fought one European bum after another as i recall.

@justinpennington7682 I agree.

@jimman758 Vitali was a B/B- level heavyweight at best. Probably his best win was over a hyped up Chris Arreola. An aging Lewis turned his face into hamburger meat and I believe Lewis was ahead when it was stopped.

@bnegs521 No it's not. It's not just about winning, it's about being entertaining and selling tickets. Bud Crawford is undefeated but can't sell out a high school gym and was a money loser for his promoter Bob Arum. Pernell Whitaker was undefeated but put fans to sleep and was horrible to watch. Same with Floyd Mayweather, who needed a more famous and popular international fighter across the ring to sell tickets. Fans want to see KO's, and not just running around.

@paleo704 That's not true. Several of Wlad's "title defenses" were not shown in North America because there was zero interest. Even HBO has their minimal standards. Sorry, Wlad and his brother were mediocre champions at best.
