New York police and firefighters are supposed to be part of the solution, not the problem.

Are we supposed to feel sorry for all these companies waiting for their cheap imported goods? These "supply chain" issues are a sad indictment on how American companies have gutted the middle class by shamelessly exporting most of their manufacturing jobs to China and other countries--all for the purpose of seeking out the cheapest labor and fattening profits. I say let the ships stay out there in the middle of the ocean in perpetuity.

That's a very selfish attitude, especially coming from public servants. They are replaceable and I hope that is what happens.

For context, the news should include reported airplane passenger violence pre-pandemic. Five thousand reports of unruly passengers doesn't mean anything in and of itself. Compared to what?

@carloscarlos7044 Try buying a pair of shoes, a shirt, or any other article of clothing that wasn't made outside the U.S. Good luck. Or the next time you call your credit card company, guess where that call center is located? We are in a race to the bottom.

@Theggman83 You're a bust

@Theggman83 Proof please. Oh, that's right, you have none. You're full of something, but it's not knowledge.

@I_Evo My point is that Apple could easily manufacture those products in the U.S. for tools like you that need to clutch them every second of every day. But it's a race to the bottom and as long as they please Wall Street and hit their quarterly numbers, they don't care.

That kid in costume looking forward to getting her vaccine shot is smarter and more logical than half of the senate.

Good idea...although malls are typically in residential or commercial zoned areas, not industrial. I think most people living near malls will shut this idea down rather quickly...

@UmmYeahOk It may be a temporary solution at best. I'm just guessing that residents would oppose their malls being turned into unsightly dumping grounds for sea containers like what's taking place right now in poor neighborhoods by the ports in Los Angeles. Plus, most residential and commercial arterials are not designed to handle a constant flow of big rig vehicles (e.g., turning lanes, turning radius, etc.) and would get destroyed in short order. A better adoptive re-use for these malls would be for low-income housing perhaps. And most fee simple residents mainly oppose multi-family housing built near them.

After all the collateral damage done by the prior administration, it will take some time convincing our allies to once again take us seriously.
