I was lucky enough to be in attendance for this fight at Caesars. Chavez was desperate for money and accepted the fight. He was turning 34 and was already way past his prime. He was easy prey for Oscar and Oscar should have left him alone. That is the reason why he was never really fully accepted going forward from this fight. It was about as quiet as a funeral leaving the outdoor arena after the fight. Afterwards, I heard Chavez had suffered a cut over one of his eyes in training but went ahead with the fight for financial reasons....

@oguhzeravla8117 Canelo is 31, and will not be 32 until July, I believe. But I see your point. Canelo is slightly past his prime right now. He was much faster and had much better movement a few years ago.

@lazym91 Fighters age differently, in case you didn't know that. I can name several fighters who were considered past their primes in their late-20's--Fernando Vargas, Meldrick Taylor, Ray Mancini, Brandon Rios, etc. Chavez had already been through brutal wars with Taylor, Frankie Randall, and others and was way past his prime when Oscar fought him. As for Canelo, he is no longer in his prime either and has slowed compared to fights just a few years ago. Crawford fights bums so it's hard to see his decline. And if you think Floyd and Pac were in their primes in their late-30's or 40's, then you don't know anything about boxing.
