  2. Roy Jones Jr. was a great fighter and a first ballot hall-of-famer. That being said, he squandered the majority of his prime fighting mostly easy fights against low-level competition for peanuts. He was strictly an HBO fighter. As a result, he never cashed big checks like Oscar De La Hoya. Jones was a superior fighter compared to Oscar, but Oscar cashed in much bigger checks because he fought bigger name opponents (even though he lost just about all those big fights). As a result, Jones was still fighting well into his 40's and now into his 50's. Sad. Jones should serve as a cautionary tale to younger fighters.
