I live in an isolated area in the PacNW and used to work in the deep woods mostly BLM which is not open to the public and there were/are times when the normally "full of life and sounds" woods go very quiet, very still and the hair raises on the back of your neck. Also I've heard noises unlike a bear or mountain lion etc, but it's when you feel as if you're being watched that's the most unsettling, although all that being said I still feel 100% safer in the woods that in any cities and most towns! Intention is key, had intentions=bad juju.
