  1. I grew up in CA and ID. The reason I moved to Idaho after college was to be able to buy a house. I miss almost everything about CA but now with the water shortages I'm glad I'm not there.

  2. I live 45 miles from Canada and I'm in the middle of thousands of miles of forests. In my lifetime (50+ years) we have only had one close call. The difference is water! North Idaho is ALWAYS green, we have thousands of lakes, ponds and rivers everywhere and groundwater is plentiful. I'm not an expert but it must have something to do with why our fires don't get raging like drier states.

  3. Welcome, remember North Idaho and Southern Idaho are very different and although we have a bad reputation for being a bunch of racist single party zombies there are many of us that think for ourselves and look at each issue not just stupidly agree with the propaganda.

  4. You cannot compare a much more humane place like Germany to the capitalistic insanity that's America. The reason home ownership is so important to Americans is because a lot of people pay much more if they're renting than they do if they own a home and the home equity will always go up (with minor short term exceptions) so lower income people use that as retirement money or inheritance for their kids. We do not have healthcare or childcare or many other social programs and most rentals are owned by cooperations that have many excessive restrictions. These reasons and many more is why we have a homeless epidemic and 75% of the homeless today are working and have families. I envy your countries social programs and truly believe America cannot go on much longer with less than 1% owning over half of all wealth.

  5. Yes we have idiot politicians and a very motivated group of idiot voters. I'm from N. Idaho and love nature but I'm selling my house and moving away from the violent racists.
