  1. My mother's boyfriend had a lung removed and the doctor nicked the other lung with his scalpel accidentally and that killed him. My grandma had an clot in her lung and she was specifically told on the chart not to be given a certain medication because it would interact badly with other meds she was already on, It was written in big bold letters that didn't see they gave her that medication and she got an embolism in her chest. It was INCREDIBLY painful and almost killed her. That's just me, one person, imagine all the other ones?

  4. Single Mom raised 3 kids, worked 2, 3 jobs. My girls learned to sew my son learned guitar and started working at 13 as a dishwasher in a restaurant. They knew if they wanted anything they'd have to work. Constantly had our electricity and water turned off. They're now adults and one has kids of her own. They're happy self reliant now, they are happy with life. I drilled into their heads that getting involved with drugs and alcohol will only make it worse and even though they experimented luckily none of them were consumed. I feel very blessed, I see other family members who had money spoil their kids and now they're either drug/alcohol dependent or constantly thinking about being rich and not happy until they are. All I can say as a parent is love your kids, try to keep communication open and have some rules that are fair.

I don't know how it works in the U.K. but in America if you don't have health insurance (most dont) or if you do there's huge deductibles or mental health isn't covered so we just have to deal with it. One of the reasons we have such a huge homeless population because if you can't work then the dominos fall. Another American solution is jail and why America has more people in prison than any other country, including Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Russia etc!!! Another situation that if handled differently we could have outcomes that are productive and positive but nope. To everyone with mental or physical issues may you get everything you need to have a good quality of life.

  9. I don't understand how we can separate mental illness from physical illness? I mean our brain is part of our physical bodies and not too long ago the so called experts said epilepsy was a mental illness?! And even until the 1960s they did major surgeries on children without anesthesia because they believed kids couldn't feel pain!!?? I wholeheartedly believe some day we will finally figure out that all mental disorders can be diagnosed in the body as a physical disease. Until then we won't make much headway in helping people. Downs syndrome is a great example, it is a physical disorder due to chromosomal configuration and no amount of therapy will cure it but therapy can help emotionally in dealing with it. Just my thoughts. I hope everyone can be compassionate and kind towards others, you never know what others are dealing with and by just being kind it may help.

  10. Wow she's amazing! I have degenerative bone disease and she makes me look like an Olympic athlete and her attitude is truly inspirational! Makes me feel ashamed for feeling sorry for myself and complaining sometimes! I hope she's doing well! She's so beautiful physically too, she should be in front of the camera not behind the scenes.

  13. Sadly society or some parents don't teach kids how to live a self fulfilling productive life which is why I think a lot of kids turn to drugs. My beliefs aren't popular but I think drugs should be legal but rehab should be free and well run! Get rid of the bad drugs, the crime associated with drugs etc. It will take time to succeed but after a generation or two things would be better. But until we deal with the disappearing middle class and poverty and provide birth control in high schools and more we must stay content with these fixable social problems. Like I said my opinions.

  14. Why in America our homeless population is huge and we have the most people in prison (in the entire world) because we don't have health care for most, and ones that do either have very large deductibles or mental illness isn't covered. The British people have no idea how lucky they are!

  18. I had giardia, it felt like an alien was in my body! Those poor people in Africa having to deal with not only terrible medical conditions but in absolute poverty. Good there are doctors out there who do seem to care.

  21. When the negative people fail to recognize is a lot of these mothers had a similar (or worse) start in life as these babies! Why feel so sorry for the babies and not the mothers? And why force pregnancy and cut social services? Some people just want all the money for themselves.

  23. While that's absolutely true, you only know your life and it's even harder for kids to understand there's always a worse situation. You can't blame these kids for the way they were raised or their attitudes if that's all they know. I'd be all for making them have to volunteer at places where there's real poverty but who would do that?

  26. Why do people get animals and keep them cages? I'd love to put them in a cage for the rest of their lives! I know it's got nothing to do with mobility scooters but it's cruel and needs to be mentioned. There absolutely needs to be some kind of regulations, mandatory training and if I can get a ticket for riding my bicycle on the sidewalk then so can they!

  27. Many things in socialized countries are better. I have many relatives who are married to people and live full time in Denmark and I'm American so this is good info. They're all paid much better and higher education is affordable so although they pay more in taxes they still make more than Americans. There are way too many reasons to mention but just look it up, how many ppl living in poverty, homelessness, healthcare, salaries etc and you'll see. These Americans saying anything bad are just those people who refuse to acknowledge facts and make everything political! Greed and corruption have taken over America and it's very sad and harmful.

  28. People gotta remember some of these kids are really young, you can't reason with a 13 year old like you can a 16 or 17 year old. That said I'm happy to hear Steven went to anger management. Ranat was a great transformation, you could even see her drop a lot of the "look at me, I'm so cool" attitude at the end. Treat kids with respect tolerance discipline and love and expect them to treat you the same, and talking to them straight-up goes a long way in getting through. What a world we live in where this is necessary, and I don't mean the kids weight issues.

  36. Funny my doc wanted to be a veterinarian but at the time (60s-70s) it was a lot harder to get into vet school than med school so he became an ER doc, then switched to family medicine lol.

Also his honesty about termination is also incredibly honest and I wish those who judge would spend 5 minutes in his shoes, or his mothers! He is probably happily flying around the Universe now as Star dust!

Side note, 2024 because of DEA they are keeping legitimate pain meds from people who are not only in chronic pain from medical conditions but from terminally ill people with moths or weeks to live!!?? They are giving them these same meds mentioned here, thorazine, Trazodone (I'm not familiar just from people I know)!

  46. I rescue cats and would be SO GRATEFUL for any help! Also I have health problems so also would love any help on the house or yard! These people who scoff at this help makes me so frustrated.
